I'm back from NYC!

What an amazing week at Google's NYC offices.

The 24 other YouTube NextUp winners and I met so many amazing speakers, YouTubers and staff!
I learned so much on how to promote my YouTube channel, collaborate with other video creators, understand my analytics data, interact with my audience, etc.  I have an entire notepad full of notes!!  I have tons of work to do so, I'll leave you all with some pictures so you can get a taste for how our week went.
Eating lunch at Google's cafeteria.

Richard Ryan of RatedRR and Zach of FinalCutKing working on their latest videos.

Meghan of Strawburry17 shopping at the B&H superstore with the $1,000 gift cards we each won!

Listening to Michelle Phan, the YouTube makeup guru speak to us.  She is the most popular woman on YouTube!

Matt Koval of MattKoval and I.... my youngest sister is going to flip when she sees this picture! She loves him!

I'm off!

Today's the big day!  I'm sitting here in the airport as I type this... I'm off to my birthplace, New York City, to attend YouTube's Creator Camp.  I'm sad because I have never been away from my baby before and as we drove to the airport this morning I was a big (pregnant) emotional mess!  I had no idea I would feel like this!  I knew I would be sad but not like this! I'm sure the pregnancy hormones are taking their part in the entire ordeal as well.  I feel better knowing that my husband will be the one taking care of our DS while I'm gone.  He is the best hands-on daddy ever! He took the week off work just so he could stay home and watch Juice (our son's nickname).  On the other hand... I'm excited to learn a ton this week that will help me provide better quality videos to my YouTube subscribers.

On a quilty note- I love making and wearing drawstring backpacks!  Like this one.  They are the perfect go-to bag. So, here's the one I made for this week's trip.

That's me!  I'm Next Up!
(This style of backpack is also on my list of tutorials to do.... stay tuned!)

How to Make a Fabric Flower... and hair clip!

I guess you could say I'm on a roll.... this is my second tutorial in 2 days! WOW!
I filmed this one while my DS napped this afternoon and I was literally recording the last line as he walked out of his room and came up to me. Phew!

This is a picture of the cute little fabric flower I show you how to make in this video tutorial.
I also explain how I like to turn them in to hair clips... like this.

I'm going to be working on a few more projects this week before I have to start packing for my flight on Sunday morning. Yup!  My flight to NYC for the YouTube Creator Camp is only five days away!  I am still in shock that I was selected as a winner of YouTube's NextUp contest.  I plan to blog, tweet and post Facebook updates for you all of what is going on at the camp.

Hope you enjoy!

Blog Tour and Giveaway Time!

I signed up for the 100 Blocks, Vol. 3 Blog Tour and if you don't know what that is I'm glad you're tuning in!

As most of you already know I have a block published in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Vol. 3.  It's the red, black and white block you see on the bottom of the cover..... yea, the cover!! Crazy, eh?!

I call it Horizon.  It definitely is representative of my quilting style... simple... and bold!

So here is what this Blog Tour is all about....

You have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of a ton of fabulous designers featured in this issue.  If you are just getting in on the tour note this is Day 4 so you want to go back and catch up on all the blogs featured earlier this week.
To see them go HERE.

Quiltmaker is very kindly hosting this giveaway---- where one lucky reader will receive their own FREE copy of the 100 Blocks, Vol. 3 issue!  To enter the giveaway simply leave a comment below and let me know what colors/fabrics you would use to make a quilt using my Horizon block. Deadline: Saturday, May 7th at 10:00pm EST.  (Make sure I have a way of contacting you in case you are the winner. If you comment as Anonymous make sure to include your email address in the actual comment.)

Whether or not you enter the giveaway you should still run out and get your own copy! Look for the magazine on stands everywhere by May 10th.  This issue is jam packed with amazing blocks from famous and newbie designers (like me!). Just think....if you win and you already have a copy you can give one as a gift to a friend.  Every quilter should have at least one resource of 100 different blocks in their library!

Now, leave a comment below to enter the giveaway and go visit more blogs!

Happy quilting!

p.s.- some of you have asked to see a quilt made with my block.  Here's one  design I call Bullseye. Some basic sashing and a cool secondary design.  Hope this helps you get some ideas.
